Twitter

   Twitter fundamentally lack the structural organization that the discussion board. Both have similar goals of personal expression and social engagement, however discussion board's primary function is to serve as a vehicle for academic discourse by way of that expression and engagement. Twitter has no such native intent and therefore does not lend itself as readily to being effective in exchanging analytical thoughts. A large part of it is the text limit; with only under 200 characters to spare, it's hard to include both source material, relevant tag, and poignant thought all within the frame of a single tweet.
